TERRY LINDSEY EQUIDAE GALLERY SUMMER NEWSLETTER
Our ninth Saratoga show season is about to begin – amazing!
I am thrilled with how the exhibit is evolving and happy to report
the details in this summer’s newsletter. Please note that the
season is starting earlier this year and I will be at the Holiday
Inn assembling my show on the first day of the meet: July 23rd.
If you visit, I think you will see my passion to create art also
drives me to create a visually captivating show. As always, I will
again be donating a portion of the gallery’s proceeds to
education and environmental concerns. The exhibit will be
open daily 9:00 am – 9:00 pm from July 23rd through
September 6th.
Life has been full and busy, not just in my Vermont studio but also with
new grandchildren, a trip to England, and the purchase of a 2 year-old
British racehorse. Well, to be honest, I bought a share in the horse, but it
is still exciting! In 2011, the exhibit will include many of the wonderful
equine scenes from England, but more on that in 2011.

Once again, I extend my thanks to jockeys Ramone Dominguez and Mike
Luzzi for modeling for my long-imagined bronze sculptures of jockeys
preparing for a race. The dominating feature in these limited edition
pieces is that the collector may choose the colors of the silk material that
will be on the jockey. Creating these bronzes left me so enthralled with
three dimensional work that I couldn’t resist creating my first equine bronze sculpture.
No surprise, this piece ended up looking a bit like Sana, my friend of 36 years. |

 |
I am also excited to present two new pieces of jewelry! It seems that at
least one yearly piece is now part of the “big plan.” By request, the first
new piece is a smaller version of the starting gate necklace from 2009. It
comes with the silver and 18K gold options. The second piece I designed
is a necklace in the shape of a halter. The halters are available in sterling
silver or 18K gold, with or without a name plate (also available in either 18K
gold or sterling silver). These are little gems and a must for collectors. |

Schedule of 2010 Summer Show Events
 |
Friday, July 30th, 10am: Susan Dorazio, traditional oil and watercolor
artist, will exhibit her adept use of the transparent water color medium
during her demonstration. Although the formal presentation will last an
hour, Susan will be working on finishing her piece throughout the day. You
are welcome to stop by anytime to see her progress. Susan is highly
regarded for her portraitures and sporting art. |
 |
Friday, July 30th, 6-8PM: the annual Champagne Opening will take place from
6:00pm – 8:00pm, with a special toast to our very special guest and newcomer to the
gallery, Anthony Alonso. Anthony has been a popular artist in Saratoga for over
thirty years and we are honored to have him join us this season. |
 |
Friday, August 6th, 10am: Terry Lindsey has the privilege to once again visit Kiaran
McLaughlin’s stable and paint one of his horses in training. Please join us at the Holiday
Inn at 9:45am for shuttle service to the stables. The painting demonstration will begin at
10:00am and last about an hour. Huge thanks to Kiaran, Trish and Neil for
welcoming us year after year. |
 |
Friday, August 13th, 10am: Ely Fuller will give a fascinating talk about
the creation of Spirit Animal Fetishes. She will discuss the many aspects
of fetishes, including what a fetish is and seeks to represent, how to look
at living animals, the design and carving of the figure, tools needed for the
process, and the teamwork involved in producing the final piece. |
 |
 |
Friday, August 20th, 10am: Louise W. King returns to do her much-loved
demonstration on clay horse designs. Everyone delights in seeing Louise’s clay
horses come alive. There is such appeal in their expressions and colors. As
soon as she adds the eye, it feels as though they are waking up and looking
right at you. Collectors of her cherished mud ponies come to enlarge their
private herds. Viewers may have trouble keeping their hands out of the clay! |
 |
 |
Friday, August 27th, 10am: Rumara Jewett, a new artist to the gallery, will talk about “green painting.” Rumara’s green technique incorporates materials and methods used by the old masters to create a painting that will last for generations. The presentation will cover her techniques, textural considerations, and how to add details. It should be both fascinating and informative. |
 |
Friday, Sept. 3rd, 10am: Kathie Friedenberg, our featured sculpture artist this summer, will present the process of creating a bronze in the structured classical method. Kathie is new to the gallery, but not new to the sculpture world. Although Kathie was a veterinary surgeon, she decided to attend art school at night. Since then, she has illustrated three books, taught sculpting classes and workshops, and won many, many awards. Kathie is also actively involved in the American Academy of Equine Art. Her demonstration will be a wonderful wrap up to the season. |
