Equidae's Tilting at Windmills Gallery is looking at a busy summer with the additional display or art in Saratoga during the six weeks of racing season at the Holiday Inn. Owner, Terry Lindsey cannot resist the connection to the equine and her past Equidae Gallery clientele. Time in Saratoga is special and like everyone else, hoping for a visit from American Pharoah.
On the First Friday in Sept. from 5PM - 7:30PM a book signing by artist Adriano Manocchia. On The Farm - The Uncertain Future of an American Legacy, is a collaborative efforts between Ronald G. Dodson, Chairman of ISC-Audubon and Adriano Manocchia Official Conservation Artist of ISC-Audubon. Together they have produced a book that features a number of original oil paintings by Adriano and is written by Mr. Dodson, successful author of several books on conservation and sustainability. Proceeds from the sale of the book, art and other related products will benefit the Seeds Fund of ISC-Audubon.
In promoting sustainable living and lifestyles, the ideas associated with farming and family farms seemed like a very logical topic to create a project around. While this book intends to celebrate the farming heritage of America, it also highlights the rapidly changing and urbanizing tendencies of society. Loosing connections with the source of our food is not sustainable in ISC-Audubon's opinion. The United States census of 1810 revealed that of the seven million Americans recorded in the census, 90 percent lived on farms. Today, less than 2 percent do. This change represents the collapse of a way of life that had been nearly universal for most of recorded history.
A signing of the book by both author and artist will be hosted in September at Tilting at Windmills Gallery in Manchester, VT where Adriano Manocchia's work is represented. A selection of paintings featured in the book will be also available for purchase.
And of course the highlight of the year during foliage season is the Saturday, October 10th Show from 4:30PM to 7PM. Three highly awarded artists will put forth a display of their best works. Carol Arnold, Cindy Baron and Michael Fratrich will be present.
Cindy Baron will be in the gallery painting all day for you to observe before the opening. Also Michael Fratrich will have a display of 5-7 pieces at various stages of development to give you a better understanding of the process of making a finished painting for your walls. Carol Arnold will also be present, so it will be a super day and opening. Please stop in.
Beginning Thanksgiving weekend the gallery will offer again the successful 100 Thousand Dollar Show offering 100 pieces of art priced under a thousand dollars.
This is a rough outline of the year ahead. Please check in for specifics as each event gets closer. Thank you.
Til we meet, Terry
